Friendly-Cells Sudoku
Cells marked with a Heart must contain a digit that matches either the row number, column number, or box number.
Some cells on the board are marked with a heart symbol — these are called Friendly Cells.
🧠 The Rule
A Friendly Cell must contain a digit that matches at least one of the following:
- The row number
- The column number
- The box number - (not applicable to Jigsaw Sudoku)
🔍 Note: Not all Friendly Cells are marked — only some are highlighted with a heart symbol.

💡 Friendly Cells Tips
- If a heart appears in cell A1, it must be 1 (row 1, column 1, box 1).
- If it’s in E5, the value must be 5 (row 5, column 5, box 5).
- If it’s in I9, the value must be 9 (row 9, column 9, box 9).
- A Friendly Cell can have at most 3 possible candidates, making it a great spot to narrow down your logic.
